Super Mario Galaxy Film Teaser Debuts, Introducing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. The reveal happened in a special Nintendo Direct that highlighted the upcoming animated film.
The sequel to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will propel Mario to the distant reaches of the galaxy. In his journey, he meets a new princess and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
A Cosmic Adventure Based on Classic Games
Much like the Wii console classics that act as its source material, Mario will leave behind the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. On his epic voyage, he will encounter once more some familiar faces, including the Luma, a breakout star from the previous film.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who reportedly utilizes powers related to metal. Notably, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Returns and Expands
The film will welcome back of the initial voice actors, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
A Big Year for Mario
The upcoming Mario film is scheduled to arrive near the 40-year celebration of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. In addition to the movie, 2026 looks set to be a important time for Mario and his friends.
Nintendo confirmed a set of three fresh titles officially announced for that year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
