Champions League Fixtures Tonight: Marseille v Newcastle & More

Group Rankings
We're at the halfway point of the league stage, so the table is starting to take shape. All six English clubs are currently in the top 12, but there are only two points between fifth and 16th place, thus there's a whiff of snakes and ladders about the whole thing. Everything is to play for.

Initial Game Reports
Only a single goal during the opening period of the early fixtures. Dahl's 6th-minute goal has given Jose Mourinho’s Benfica a 1-0 lead away to Ajax.
Newcastle’s Trip to Marseille
Although Newcastle arrived in the French south fresh from their restorative two-one home English top-flight victory over City on Saturday, and having beaten Union SG, the Portuguese side and Bilbao in the Champions League, their only away win since early April came in the Belgian capital at Union SG.
It's not that Howe was eager to discuss the psychological aspect of this away form issue. “The Champions League is distinct from Premier League games,” said the coach, whose team are 6th in the Champions League standings, with 9 points from a possible 12 and direct qualification to the last 16 nearly secured. “I am not sure if you can draw parallels between them.”
We have a separate live blog for Chelsea v Barcelona. Murray, the minute-by-minute version of Diego Maradona is handling for that.
